My Husband Was Late from Work Again—No Surprise There

It had become a routine by now. Every evening, I’d wait for my husband, John, to come home from work, but every day, it was the same—he was late. The dinner would grow cold on the table, the house quiet except for the tick of the clock.

At first, I tried to be understanding. Work gets busy, right? But after months of missed evenings, empty promises, and excuses, my patience wore thin.

One night, I finally had enough. He didn’t come home by 8:00 p.m., and I didn’t wait this time. I went out to meet him, casually strolling into the bar he always claimed was a “business meeting.” Sure enough, there he was—laughing with a group of colleagues, beers in hand.

I didn’t make a scene. I just turned around and left. No more waiting at home for someone who didn’t value my time.
