This ’80s Teen Star Left Hollywood for a While and Moved to a Farm to Battle Cancer — Her Photos at 58

This actress, best known for playing Natalie Green on The Facts of Life (1979–1988), never planned on a career in acting. She was discovered as a teenager in 1979 when TV producers visited her school, and, after impressing Charlotte Rae, was cast in the sitcom. Despite initially wanting to become a doctor to help people, Cohn’s acting career blossomed. Over the years, she remained active in entertainment, even voicing Velma in What’s New, Scooby-Doo? for over a decade.

In 2012, Cohn’s life changed when she was diagnosed with breast cancer after feeling unusually fatigued. She faced a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation, enduring a challenging five-year recovery. To heal, she retreated to the countryside, living with friends Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Dr. Brent Ridge on their farm. There, she found peace and solace in farm life, staying active with daily tasks. By 2017, she was cancer-free and deeply grateful for the love and support of her parents and close friends. Today, at 58, Cohn continues to thrive, having overcome incredible challenges with resilience and gratitude.
