THEY WERE JUST OUR Trash GUYS UNTIL MY KIDS USED TO WAIT FOR THEM EVERY WEEK.

At first, they were just the trash guys — hardworking, quiet, in and out every week without much thought from us. But then my kids noticed them.

Every Thursday morning, my little ones would race to the window, faces pressed against the glass, waiting for the big truck to rumble down the street. They’d wave with all their might, grinning ear to ear. And the trash guys? They waved right back, smiling just as wide.

Soon, it became a ritual. The crew started honking the horn just for them. Sometimes they even jumped off the truck to hand the kids high-fives or tiny treats.

To my kids, they weren’t just workers — they were heroes, the highlight of their week. And honestly, they became a bright spot for us all.

It reminded me that sometimes the people we overlook are the ones making the biggest impact in small, beautiful ways.
