Authorities in Salt Lake City have arrested two individuals accused of placing an explosive device beneath a FOX 13 media vehicle. The suspects, identified as 58-year-old Adeeb Nasir and 31-year-old Adil Justice Ahmed Nasir, were taken into custody after bomb squads confirmed the device was real.
According to investigators, the bomb had been lit but failed to detonate. It was discovered under a news vehicle parked beside an occupied building, creating a significant potential threat to the public. Bomb specialists from both the Salt Lake City Police Department and the Unified Fire Authority responded to the scene and secured the device.
Police say the suspects are facing multiple serious charges, including Threat of Terrorism, Possession of Weapons of Mass Destruction, and Possession of Explosive Devices. A search of the suspects’ residence reportedly uncovered additional explosive-related materials and other illegal items.
The investigation is ongoing as officials work to determine a motive behind the attempted attack.
