At the age of 32, she was considered by many to be an experienced driver. There was nothing to suspect, however, on that cursed day, something terrible happened!

Courtney Ann Sanford, a 32-year-old experienced driver, tragically lost her life due to a momentary distraction while driving. While listening to her favorite song, “Happy” by Pharrell Williams, she decided to take a selfie and share her joy on Facebook. Instead of pulling over safely, she continued driving, leading to a fatal accident with a truck. Despite the relatively low speed of about 60 km/h (37 mph), the impact caused her car to veer off the road and crash into a tree, igniting in flames. Courtney was trapped inside and lost her life in the fire, leaving her family devastated.

Her last Facebook post was made just moments before the accident, with the time stamp eerily close to the emergency call reporting the crash. This tragic incident serves as a powerful reminder of the dangers of distracted driving in an age of constant connectivity. Courtney’s story emphasizes the importance of focusing on driving and the irreparable consequences that distractions, like social media, can have on lives. No post or momentary distraction is worth risking one’s life or the lives of others on the road.
