He didn’t look like someone who had much left.
Sitting outside the store, worn jacket, tired eyes, and beside him — a loyal dog who hadn’t left his side. People walked past like he wasn’t there. Like he was invisible.
But I couldn’t.
I stopped, bought some food, and handed it to him. Nothing big. Just a small act. He looked up at me, surprised, then grateful. “Thank you,” he said quietly. His dog wagged its tail like it understood everything.
I didn’t think about it again.
Until a month later.
My boss called me into his office — angry. Really angry. I had no idea why. My mind raced as I stepped inside, trying to figure out what I had done wrong.
Then he said it.
“Do you know who that man was?”
My heart dropped.
Because whatever I thought that moment meant…
It was about to change everything.
