The Clerk Who Shot A Shoplifter At His Store Is Being Charged With Murder

In Indiana, a gas station clerk, Vincent Bibbs, confronted a customer attempting to steal Red Bull energy drinks. Bibbs, armed with an unlicensed handgun, confronted the thief, and a shot was fired, tragically resulting in the man’s death. Now, Bibbs faces a murder charge for his actions.

The victim, Damon McClain, was a 49-year-old Army veteran with a warm heart, according to friends and family. The incident occurred at an Indianapolis Speedway, where witnesses saw Bibbs chasing after the shoplifter who was trying to leave with stolen items.

Police found a 9mm handgun and a single shell casing near McClain’s car, along with the stolen Red Bulls. Security footage confirmed the theft, showing McClain pocketing the energy drinks before leaving the store.

Initially, Bibbs denied any knowledge of the shooting, but later admitted he had pursued the thief with the gun. He claimed the weapon accidentally discharged.

Bibbs was subsequently arrested on a murder charge and one count of carrying a handgun without a license.

Damon McClain’s memorial site reflects his engaging and entertaining nature. He was known for connecting with people from all walks of life and making new friends every day. His infectious laughter and zest for life were his trademarks.
