Police in Lewiston, Maine, continue their search for the prime suspect, Robert Card, in a recent mass shooting incident that left 18 people dead and several more injured. A chilling development in the investigation reveals a note in Card’s home suggesting he is “looking for his ex.”
Robert Card, a US Army reservist, had raised concerns among military officials due to erratic behavior during his training at the US Military Academy at West Point. Reports also indicate he spent two weeks in a mental health facility earlier in the summer and had allegedly threatened to carry out a shooting at a military training base in Saco, Maine.
The tragic incident in Lewiston involved mass shootings at a restaurant and a bowling alley just 10 minutes apart. At the time of writing, there is an arrest warrant for Card on eight counts of murder for those whose identities have been confirmed.
On Thursday, police surrounded Card’s brother’s home in Bowdoin, suspecting that Card might be hiding there. They called for him to surrender peacefully. The manhunt continues, and authorities hope the note found in Card’s home will assist in locating him.
Robert Card, described as a trained marksman and skilled outdoorsman, poses a significant challenge for law enforcement. Retired NYPD chief Robert Louden likened the search to a “spider’s web,” with multiple possibilities for Card’s whereabouts, including suicide, escape by boat, or hiding in the wilderness.
This tragedy has left many lives shattered, and our thoughts are with the victims’ loved ones during this difficult time.
