Dr. Phil Ends 21-Year Run, Embarks on New Ventures
After 21 groundbreaking years, Dr. Phil has officially come to an end following the 2022-2023 season. Since its 2002 premiere, Dr. Phil McGraw’s show has tackled issues like mental health, addiction, and relationships, featuring 4,000 episodes and 20,000 guests. With an average of 2 million viewers per episode, the show cemented Dr. Phil as a trusted voice for millions worldwide.
Though the daytime era is over, CBS Media Ventures will continue airing classic episodes through 2024. Dr. Phil, however, isn’t slowing down—he’s launching a primetime project aimed at fostering meaningful, values-based conversations. He’s also expanding his work through two successful podcasts—Phil in the Blanks and Mystery & Murder—and exploring new scripted projects.
Dr. Phil, who first rose to fame on The Oprah Winfrey Show, leaves behind an enduring legacy of advice and inspiration, having touched millions of lives and received 5 million letters of gratitude from viewers.
His departure marks the end of an era for daytime TV, following the exits of Ellen, Dr. Oz, and The Wendy Williams Show. Yet, with exciting ventures on the horizon, Dr. Phil’s influence will continue to inspire audiences in new and innovative ways.
