The TV star, well known for playing Georgina Sparks in Gossip Girl and Dawn Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer has sadly died aged 39.

Her passing was announced on 26 February – shocking her fans who had previously voiced concern over her frail appearance only days before she died.

Trachtenberg was found at her home in New York on Wednesday.

It was previously announced that she had undergone surgery recently for a liver transplant. It is believed her body may have rejected the liver, according to sources.

Her rep, Gary Mantoosh, announced the news. He wrote: “It is with great sadness to confirm that Michelle Trachtenberg has passed away. The family requests privacy for their loss. There are no further details at this time,”.

Sadly, during her final night out before her death, she was so frail she could barely walk down the stairs, according to staff at the restaurant she attended.

The actress went to Sartiano’s restaurant in SoHo, New York on 20th February, less than a week before she passed.

One employee shared: ‘She looked really unwell, just like very sickly,’.

‘She was thin, like tiny, she couldn’t walk down the stairs. She was not in a great mood, it wasn’t the best impression.’

‘It’s spooky because she was in here just last week on Thursday night,’ the worker added.

‘We only just found out about (her death) a few hours ago and it’s really sad. She was just with one other person, a woman who was really nice.’

Her final post on social media was a throwback shot of herself on the red carpet. She wrote:  “I wanted to look like naughty #tinkerbell💚 #throwback ⚡️.”

Authorities are not treating her death as suspicious.

Police had responded to an emergency call out at 8am to One Columbus Place. Upon arrival, they found the actress deceased.

ABC in America revealed that the star died of “natural causes”. They wrote:  “Trachtenberg is believed to have died of natural causes and no foul play is suspected.”

Fans had previously shared concern over he appearance on social media to which she responded: “I’ve received several comments recently about my appearance. I have never had plastic surgery I am happy and healthy. Check yourself haters.”
