The 2019 Country Music Association Awards kicked off with an unforgettable performance by Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood, and Reba McEntire, who sang “Those Memories Of You.” They were later joined by Martina McBride, Jennifer Nettles, and Tanya Tucker for a medley of country hits.
The trio opened with a playful monologue, acknowledging the Performer of the Year nominees, including Keith Urban and his wife, Nicole Kidman.
Underwood, who had co-hosted the awards with Brad Paisley for years, joked about replacing him with McEntire and Parton. The performance of “Those Memories Of You” was a nod to the iconic 1987 album Trio by Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and Emmylou Harris, which featured the song.
