Absolutely Hilarious License Plates We’ve Seen In A While

Vanity license plates often make people roll their eyes, as some individuals prefer to make a statement instead of settling for random numbers and letters. However, many plates use humor or wit, making long drives more entertaining. Despite efforts by the DMV to limit creativity, some drivers still manage to slip in jokes, puns, or clever riddles on their plates.

Historically, vanity plates date back to Pennsylvania in 1931, and states now generate millions of dollars from personalized plate fees. Surprisingly, Delaware still offers porcelain plates, though most plates are now mass-produced, often in prisons.

The most expensive plate, “P7,” sold for $15 million at an auction in 2023, making it the priciest vanity plate ever.

Plates featuring dad jokes, Pokémon references, and clever wordplay continue to captivate drivers. One example is a viral plate from Perth, cleverly hiding a potentially inappropriate word, sparking laughs on social media.
