Finding a babysitter for our two-year-old, Lily, became impossible. Every sitter I hired would quit after one shift. They’d mumble an excuse, avoid eye contact, and vanish. It didn’t make sense—until I decided to place a hidden nanny cam in our living room.

That evening, I went through the footage, my heart pounding. My husband, Mark, had always been charming, but what I saw on the video made my blood run cold.

As soon as I left, he cornered the babysitter. “You don’t really need this job, do you?” His voice was smooth, but there was something unsettling about it. The poor girl looked trapped, her body stiff.

I confronted Mark, and he laughed it off, saying I was overreacting. But I knew better. The next morning, I packed my bags and took Lily with me. No woman—especially not a young, vulnerable babysitter—deserved to feel unsafe. And neither did I.
