Texas dad’s heartbreaking voicemail to his kids as deadly floods swept him and wife away

During catastrophic flooding in central Texas, Jeff Ramsey, 61, demonstrated a father’s profound love in his final moments. As floodwaters from the Guadalupe River overwhelmed HTR RV Park in Kerrville, Jeff and his wife, Tanya, 46, were caught in their Airstream trailer. Realizing escape was unlikely, Jeff left emotional goodbye messages for his children, Jake and Rachel, expressing love and sorrow in a voice filled with panic they had never heard before.

As the water surged, Tanya could be heard screaming in the background of a second voicemail sent to Rachel. The couple’s trailer was destroyed before emergency alerts even reached them—making Jeff’s calls the only warnings received. Tragically, Tanya’s body was later found and identified, while Jeff remains missing.

Jeff didn’t just think of his children—he also saved others. He called Tanya’s brother and mother, waking them before floodwaters hit their cabin, which was later found in ruins. His son, Jake, believes Jeff’s call saved their lives. Tanya, a breast cancer survivor who managed a wig shop for women undergoing treatment, and Jeff, a volunteer helping amputees regain strength, were both deeply community-oriented.

Despite the devastation, the family was reunited with Chloe, the couple’s rescue whippet, who was found alive at a local shelter. Friends and loved ones remembered Jeff as a man with a “servant’s heart,” committed to helping others.

Jake remains angry over the failed emergency alert system and has vowed to advocate for change. But above all, he wants his father remembered for the love and bravery that defined his final moments.
