Mother of teen stabbed in heart at school track meet breaks silence

17-year-old Austin Metcalf, a student-athlete from Frisco,

Texas, was fatally stabbed during a track meet on April 2 after a confrontation with another student, Anthony Karmel. His twin brother, Hunter, witnessed the tragic moment and held Austin as he passed away.

Austin was a promising athlete known for his leadership and kindness. His mother, Meghan, expressed deep grief and urged parents to cherish their children. The community has rallied around the family, while calls for increased safety at school events grow.

Karmel, 17, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, claiming self-defense. Despite their pain, Hunter expressed empathy for Karmel’s family.
