Hypertension and sleeping pills

Hypertension, if untreated, can lead to serious health complications: 50% of patients may die from coronary heart disease, 33% from stroke, and 10-15% from kidney failure. The prevalence of hypertension continues to rise, and it has been linked to sleep problems.

Many hypertensive patients experience difficulty sleeping, which often leads them to rely on sleeping pills. However, these medications are widely used and come with risks, especially when taken continuously.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued warnings about the adverse effects of long-term use of sleeping pills. It’s important for patients to be aware of these risks while managing both hypertension and sleep disturbances.
