A Childhood Accident That Changed Hai’s Life Forever

As a toddler, Hai suffered a life-altering accident when he fell into an open wood stove while pushing a baby walker in the kitchen. The severe burns covered a large portion of his body, leaving him in critical condition.

“Baby walkers were common back then, and people didn’t realize how dangerous they could be,” Hai later recalled.

Rushed to Children’s Hospital 1 in Saigon, Hai spent two years receiving intensive care and undergoing multiple reconstructive surgeries. Though doctors worked tirelessly to save his life, he was left with permanent scars—a lasting reminder of that tragic day.
