The Girl Who Found Her Own Missing Photo—and Uncovered a Dark Secret

Fourteen-year-old Mia wakes up from a coma with no memory of her past. She is greeted by a woman named Laura, who claims to be her mother. Although Mia doesn’t recognize her, Laura insists on taking her home, hoping that familiar surroundings will help restore Mia’s lost memories. At first, Mia tries to trust Laura, but something feels wrong especially when Laura avoids hospital staff and rushes them out through a hidden side exit, raising Mia’s suspicions.

Laura takes Mia to a secluded, somewhat eerie house and shows her a room filled with baby toys and framed photos none of which Mia recalls. Days pass, and during a trip to the supermarket, Mia’s eyes catch her own face on a milk carton labeled “MISSING.” She quickly memorizes the contact number printed beneath the photo before Laura notices.

Back at the house, Mia secretly calls the number and hears a panicked voice on the other end it’s her real mother. But before Mia can explain or get help, Laura discovers her and locks her away in the basement. While trapped, Mia finds medical records revealing Laura’s heartbreaking delusion: her real daughter had died years ago, and Laura had convinced herself Mia was her returned child.Thinking fast, Mia pretends to accept Laura’s delusion to gain her trust and eventually be released. Once Laura lets her out, Mia seizes the opportunity to escape. A tense pursuit through the woods follows until a police officer arrives just in time and uses a Taser to subdue Laura. Finally reunited with her true parents, Mia feels the comfort and safety she’s been missing, held at last in the arms of the family she truly belongs to.
