Neighbor Asked My Son to Shovel Snow for $10 a Day but Refused to Pay, So I Taught Him a Lesson He Will Never Forget

When my son was asked by our neighbor to shovel his driveway for $10 a day, he eagerly accepted, happy to earn some extra cash. For days, he worked hard in the freezing cold, clearing the snow without complaint. But when he finally asked for his payment, the neighbor refused, making excuses and brushing him off.

I wasn’t about to let my son be taken advantage of. Instead of confronting the neighbor outright, I decided to teach him a lesson he wouldn’t forget. The next heavy snowfall, I told my son not to shovel his driveway. Instead, we watched as the snow piled up, making it impossible for him to leave his house.

Soon enough, he came knocking, asking my son to shovel again—this time offering to pay up front. My son declined, saying he only works for honest people. The message was clear: if you don’t respect someone’s hard work, don’t expect their help. Lesson learned.
