Netflix’s new hit series The Hunting Wives has quickly become a binge-worthy sensation, with viewers calling it “outrageous” yet “so juicy it hurts.”
The eight-part thriller follows Sophie, played by Brittany Snow, who moves from Boston to the fictional town of Maple Brook, Texas, seeking a fresh start. There, she becomes entangled with a wealthy socialite and her mysterious circle of friends.
Packed with twists and deadly secrets, the story escalates when a body is found — and Sophie is warned she has “no idea what these people are capable of.”
The cast includes Malin Åkerman, Dermot Mulroney, Chrissy Metz, and Katie Lowes. The series quickly climbed Netflix’s Top 10 and earned an 80% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Fans praise the shocking plot turns. “Talk about a plot twist! I love when I think I have a show figured out and it throws me for a loop,” one viewer said. Another added, “Mind-blowing. Twists. Texas. 10/10.”
Not everyone is impressed. Some call it “vulgar viewing,” citing early scenes involving explicit and uncomfortable moments. “I couldn’t make it past the first 20 minutes,” one critic wrote.
Creator Rebecca Cutter stands by her vision, describing the show as “fun, juicy, and sexy” with “women behaving badly” and unapologetically. She wanted to explore themes of freedom, power, and real-life dynamics between older women and younger men.
“It’s rare, but it’s real,” Cutter said. “I think TV has evolved.”
Despite controversy, fans are already hoping for a second season. The Hunting Wives is streaming now on Netflix.
