Officer Meets A Beaten-Up Toddler During Welfare Check, Decides To Give Her His Heart And His Home

Arizona Police Lieutenant Brian Zach and his wife have officially adopted a young girl named Kaila after he rescued her from an abusive situation in 2018. Officer Zach comforted Kaila while waiting for detectives to take her to the hospital, and he was deeply moved by the experience. He told his wife about Kaila and expressed a desire to provide her with a safe home.

Kaila had suffered multiple injuries due to abuse, and criminal charges were filed against her caretakers. When child protective services couldn’t immediately find a placement for Kaila, the Zachs stepped in and took her into their family. She quickly bonded with them, calling Brian “dad” and his wife “mom.”

After around 30 months of caring for Kaila, the Zachs officially adopted her in August. Kaila enjoys preschool, animals, dancing, and imaginative play. She has brought joy to her new family and is described as comical and witty, making their lives richer and happier.
