Powerful earthquake strikes San Diego – Locals recount scenes of utter chaos.

5.2 Earthquake Strikes Near San Diego, Shakes Southern California

A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Julian, California, late Monday night, sending tremors across San Diego County and reaching as far as Los Angeles, approximately 120 miles away.

The quake rattled windows and shook homes, startling residents across Southern California. Many described the jolt as brief but powerful.

Despite the intensity, no injuries or significant damage were reported, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

Officials noted that the quake originated at a relatively shallow depth, which often leads to a stronger surface impact.

Residents in affected areas received an early warning about five seconds before the quake hit—thanks to California’s alert system designed to give people a moment to prepare.

While brief, the early alert is being praised as a potentially life-saving tool, especially in more densely populated or vulnerable areas.

Experts continue to monitor for aftershocks, although none of major concern have been reported so far.

Authorities are urging residents to review earthquake preparedness plans, including securing furniture, keeping emergency kits stocked, and knowing evacuation routes.
