Shania Twain catches heat for blonde look at awards show

Shania Twain hosted the 2024 People’s Choice Country Music Awards, which received mixed reactions.

Shania is now a genre icon, a singer whose appeal has gone around the world and lasted decades. The man! I feel like a woman! The hitmaker has earned her stripes, that much is undeniable, so it should come as no surprise that she was awarded the distinction of presenting the People’s Choice Country Music Awards.

The event, held last Thursday, September 26, at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee, was well-attended. As it turned out, a lot of it was centered on Shania, but not for the reasons she may have preferred.

Shania wore many outfits during the evening, as is common at such huge, flashy gatherings. They included a white fringe suit with a matching cowboy hat, as well as a strapless corset top and satin miniskirt under a black cloak.

She later emerged in a glittering crimson gown, which the People’s Choice Country Awards official Twitter account deemed worthy of praise. She looked stunning in all her ensembles. But what more can we expect from a lady of Twain’s composure and panache, at 59?

Unfortunately, not everybody agrees. No, once the awards were over, some online criticized Twain’s performance as host, and her wardrobe choices became another point of contention.

In general, the naysayers appeared to believe that Twain no longer looked like herself (whatever that implies), with several criti:cizing her blonde hair and one even accusing her of “ruining her looks”.

“Totally ruined her looks,” one person wrote on Instagram.

Another added: “Yikes 😬 that doesn’t suit her. Blonde not so much either.”

“She’s not recognizable now; too sad,” chimed a third.

“Bring back the brunette [color!]” suggested a fourth.

Another still wrote: “I miss the Shania from back in the 1990’s.”

The country music legend opted for an eye-catching all-denim ensemble for the red carpet at the event, and while there were still those online who appeared unimpressed, the singer had plenty of support from others.

“this look DOES impress me much 🤩🤩” wrote one fan.

Another chimed: “looking like a beautiful Barbie doll with that hair. Love it 🔥🔥🔥🔥“

A third added: “You look fantastic my queen @shaniatwain obsessed with you.”
