Some Dems Plot To Disrupt Trump’s Speech To Congress

House Democrats are debating how to protest President Trump’s upcoming address to Congress. Some members suggest bold actions like walkouts during controversial moments, such as if Trump criticizes transgender children, or using props like anti-Trump signs, empty egg cartons to symbolize rising food prices, or copies of the Constitution. However, leadership has cautioned against props, fearing they may backfire.

Other Democrats plan more symbolic protests, such as wearing pink to express opposition, black to reflect the party’s somber mood, or blue and yellow to show solidarity with Ukraine. Some also intend to stay silent and not applaud during the speech.

While Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries encourages attendance to provide a counterweight to Trump, some members may choose to boycott. The focus remains on pressing issues affecting constituents, such as health, safety, and the economy. Democrats are divided on how best to express their opposition while maintaining political strategy.
