They told my wife: “You Are Not Pretty Enough to Work Here” I had to do something about it

Sophia recognized me instantly but quickly masked it with a professional tone. “Oh, really? How wonderful,” she said, trying to hide her discomfort. I continued, “Yes, but my wife came home upset after being told she wasn’t ‘pretty enough’ to work here.” The color drained from Sophia’s face. “Oh, um, I’m not sure who said that. We have high standards,” she stammered. “High standards? Or shallow ones?” I challenged. I continued, “My wife is beautiful, inside and out, and didn’t deserve that humiliation.”

I asked to speak to the manager. Lisa, the manager, listened to my story, her expression stern. She called Sophia into her office. After a few minutes, Lisa returned, apologizing and inviting my wife, Emma, to reapply, promising a fair interview.

Emma was hesitant but agreed. A week later, she was warmly welcomed and got the job. Sophia was transferred to another branch. Justice was served, and Emma thrived in her role. We now laugh about it, knowing no one will ever make her feel unworthy again.
