erri recently spoke on “Anh’s Brush With Fame.” When asked about Steve’s untimely death, she said, “He never expected to live long, always sensing his life would be cut short.” Tragically, that prediction proved true during filming “Ocean’s Deadliest” in Queensland, Australia, when a stingray’s barb took his life.
Terri had to contact her zoo manager after the incident. She recalls the moment she learned of her husband’s passing: “I vividly remember a strong sense of responsibility and overwhelming grief. I gathered my thoughts and then had to break the news to Bindi and Robert … which was extremely difficult.”
After news of Steve’s passing spread, Terri was taken aback by the overwhelming grief and love: “No one would’ve been more surprised than Steve by the outpouring of emotions,” she said. “Steve never considered himself famous. I admired that about him; he was never pretentious or self-promoting. We reinvested everything we earned from wildlife into conservation efforts, and I take great pride in that.”
