Charli Worgan and her husband Cullen, both living with different types of dwarfism, have faced public scrutiny and questions about their decision to have children. Despite this, they decided to share their family’s journey on social media, and their Instagram account has gained over 300,000 followers. Charli recently revealed that she was 14 weeks pregnant with their third child, but the journey has been bittersweet due to the genetic risks involved.
Because of their genetic conditions, their offspring could inherit one type of dwarfism, the other type, both types (known as “double dominant dwarfism,” which is believed to be fatal), or be of average height. Charli underwent severe genetic testing with each pregnancy, and this time, she faced the uncertainty of waiting to learn which of the four possibilities their baby had.
Their daughters, Tully and Tilba, both have one of the two types of dwarfism. Charli explained that they were waiting to find out if their third child would have a different type of dwarfism, be of average height, or inherit both genetic variations, which would be fatal upon birth.
Despite criticism for sharing their journey so publicly, Charli emphasized the complexity of the decision and the importance of being kind. Their son, Rip, was born in February, and Charli continues to share their family’s ups and downs, reminding everyone that parenthood is a unique journey filled with challenges and joys.
