23-year-old Chandler Plante has faced various health issues since 2021. She describes herself as a “normal 21-year-old” before her troubles began. After recovering from COVID-19 in December 2020, she noticed numbness in her hands and forearms three months later.
Initially, doctors dismissed her symptoms as anxiety. However, a brain scan in June 2021 revealed ischemic strokes, caused by severe inflammation in her head, narrowing her arteries to 0.5mm. She underwent procedures to insert coronary stents in her brain arteries.
Despite treatments, her stents later moved, causing blindness in one eye. Doctors struggled to find the cause, performing a craniotomy and a biopsy. Chandler tried various medications and therapies, which often left her feeling worse.
Now, she manages her condition with a combination of rituximab and methotrexate, experiencing manageable side effects like hair loss. Chandler shares her story on TikTok to inspire others with her positivity, emphasizing the importance of looking on the bright side during difficult times.
