Unveiling an Ingenious Concept
Campbell’s lifelong passion for reimagining objects to create something novel led him to envision an extraordinary mansion – a home crafted from retired cargo planes. Inspired by Joanne Ussery’s conversion of a Boeing 727 into a home, Campbell embraced this innovative adaptation.
The Boeing 727 Transformation
In 1999, Campbell invested $100,000 in a Boeing 727 from Olympic Airways, facing logistical challenges to transport the aircraft to Oregon. The journey from Greece incurred an extra $120,000, culminating in a $220,000 investment. Despite the expenses, Campbell firmly believed in the worth of his endeavor.
Revealing the Interior
The airplane interior boasts essential amenities, with original seats and bathroom retained. Campbell thoughtfully incorporated a sink and washing machine.
Elegance in Simplicity
Despite the spaciousness of the Boeing 727, Campbell spends limited time inside. A couch doubles as his bed, while basic appliances serve as his kitchen. His diet primarily consists of cereal and canned goods.
An Impressive Feat
While not everyone’s choice, Campbell’s achievement is undeniably remarkable. The transformation of the airplane’s interior is truly inspiring. The fulfillment of this ambitious endeavor is a testament to his dedication.
