Ever since he was diagnosed with aphasia, a condition affecting communication, Bruce Willis has kept a low profile. His family recently revealed his exact diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (FTD). They have been updating fans on his condition.

“Our family wanted to start by expressing our deepest gratitude for the incredible outpouring of love, support, and wonderful stories we have all received since sharing Bruce’s original diagnosis,” posted his daughter Rumer Willis on social media. She added, “Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce’s condition has progressed, and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia.”

As Willis’s cognitive abilities decline, his doctors are doing everything possible to support him. Emma Heming, Willis’s wife, works with a dementia specialist to ensure he receives the best care. She shared her struggles with grief, quoting her step-daughter Scout Willis, “Grief is the deepest and purest form of love.”

Emma recently used an Instagram feature to share a memory of Willis praising her a year ago. In the video, Willis expressed his admiration for her skincare brand, Cocobaba, saying he’s “crazy” about it.

Before the family disclosed Willis’s diagnosis, his co-workers noticed he had trouble remembering lines. A crew member from Willis’s latest film, *White Elephant*, commented, “It was less of an annoyance and more like: ‘How do we not make Bruce look bad?’ Someone would give him a line and he didn’t understand what it meant. He was just being puppeted.”
