Nurse Lucy Letby has been found guilty of the murder of seven infants who were under care in a neonatal unit. The murders took place at the Countess of Chester Hospital between June 2015 and June 2016. Letby, 33 years old, is the largest baby killer in modern times in the United Kingdom.
She has also been found guilty of attempting to murder six other infants while being acquitted of two charges of attempted murder, and the jury was undecided on six other charges of attempted murder. The lead consultant in the neonatal unit at the hospital told the BBC that they were unable to investigate the allegations against Letby – the government has ordered an independent inquiry.
Authorities are reviewing the admissions of the 4,000 infants at the hospitals where Letby worked – but they emphasize that they are not investigating all 4,000.
