Michael Bublé has opened up about the toll his son’s liver cancer diagnosis took on his mental health, revealing that it led him to stop singing in the shower. Following the 2016 diagnosis of his eldest child, Noah, the singer felt like a “wreck” and lost interest in music.
Bublé, now 46, initially put his career on hold to focus on his family’s well-being and his own mental health. He admitted that at the time, the idea of performing again “wasn’t even on my radar.” Though he resumed recording in 2018, he still felt like a “wreck” and wasn’t ready to return to the spotlight.
Noah, now eight years old, has made a full recovery, bringing some silver linings to the experience. Despite the difficulties, Bublé described feeling liberated during a performance in 2018 when he could no longer hide his emotions, stating that his defense mechanism was no longer available to him.
He expressed that while Noah sees himself as a regular young person and his superhero dad tells him he is, the anxiety surrounding scans and tests still lingers for Bublé and his wife. However, they are doing better now and continue to support their son’s recovery journey.
