Apple has recently issued a warning about the dangers of charging iPhones overnight, pointing out risks like overheating and fire. The company stressed that covering the phone, such as putting it under pillows or blankets, can greatly increase the risk of overheating. This can harm the device and create a serious fire hazard.
In their safety memo, Apple advises against keeping charging cables in contact with skin for long periods and suggests ensuring the charging area is well-ventilated to prevent heat build-up. They also warn against using non-official chargers and recommend choosing accessories that meet international safety standards.
A firefighter from Kent Fire Rescue backed these warnings, highlighting the danger of not noticing a fire while asleep and noting that even genuine chargers can be risky. Apple’s advice focuses on safer charging habits, stressing the need to be awake and alert while charging devices to stay safe.
