Body language expert says Kate Middleton wanted to ‘avoid stealing the attention’ in royal comeback

Kate Middleton’s public appearance at Trooping the Colour is considered the most positive news for the royal family this year, following challenging months that included cancer treatments for both her and King Charles. Her presence on the Buckingham Palace balcony with her family garnered praise from experts for her appearance and outfit, despite mixed opinions on her color choice. She appeared healthy and happy, with a body language expert noting she seemed focused on more than just being the center of attention.

Since publicly disclosing her cancer diagnosis, many had wondered when Kate would return to her royal duties. The Palace clarified that her attendance at the event, which celebrated King Charles’ official birthday, did not indicate she was ready to resume regular royal engagements, as she is still undergoing treatment and needs rest.

In an Instagram post a day before Trooping the Colour, Kate explained she has both good and bad days. “On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well,” she wrote. She expressed her excitement about attending the King’s Birthday Parade with her family and hoped to participate in a few public engagements over the summer, while acknowledging that she is not fully recovered. She emphasized the importance of patience and taking each day as it comes, thanking her followers for their understanding and support.

During her first public appearance in months, Kate also fulfilled her role as a mother, guiding her children on how to behave, which they did admirably. Royal expert Michael Cole told GB News that Kate was the “star of the show” due to her dignity, elegance, stoicism, and steadfastness, despite the challenges she faces.

Cole also noted that while doctors played a crucial role in her decision to attend, Kate ultimately made the final call. He praised her for sitting through the nearly two-hour event and looking great, making it worthwhile for the crowds.

Trooping the Colour, a tradition started in 1748 by King George II, celebrates the head of the monarchy. Kate ensured that King Charles remained the focal point of the event, demonstrating what it means to be a royal. Body language expert Judi James told The Sun that Kate’s demeanor showcased her calm and stoic nature, with no signs of self-pity or drama.

James observed that Kate’s non-verbal messages indicated a determination to reassure the public and her children, and to continue her duties. Her upright posture and signature smile suggested resilience and poise. James also noted that Kate’s outfit choice and subtle gestures indicated a desire to avoid drawing attention away from King Charles on his special day.

In summary, Kate Middleton’s appearance at Trooping the Colour was a significant and positive event for the royal family. Despite her ongoing health challenges, she demonstrated resilience, poise, and a commitment to her royal duties and family.
