Bill Hayes, beloved for his long-standing role as Doug Williams on ‘Days of Our Lives,’ has passed away at 98, as reported by People magazine. Hayes’ portrayal of Doug Williams for over five decades made him a television icon and endeared him to millions of viewers. Announcing his passing, a show spokesperson said, “With heavy hearts, we share the loss of our dear Bill Hayes.

He originated the role of ‘Doug Williams’ in 1970 and portrayed him without interruption throughout his lifetime.”

Ken Corday, the show’s executive producer, remembered Hayes as the heart and soul of ‘Days of Our Lives.’ Hayes’ legacy also includes being the first to sing on daytime TV. His 98th birthday was celebrated on set with his wife, Susan Seaforth-Hayes, also a renowned TV actress.

Their on-screen romance blossomed into a real-life marriage in 1974. Awarded the Daytime Emmy’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018, Hayes leaves behind a loving legacy and a profound impact on television history.
