Father of Anna Kepner, Florida Teen Who Passed Away on a Cruise, Speaks Out

What began as a relaxing family vacation aboard a cruise ship quickly turned into a heartbreaking experience when Florida high school student Anna Kepner passed away during the trip. The Carnival Horizon returned to PortMiami as news of her sudden passing reached fellow passengers and the community back home. Anna, born on June 13, 2007, was traveling with her family when the unexpected event occurred. Her father, Christopher Kepner, shared that they were all together on the ship at the time. The family is now focused on finding clarity while holding onto their memories.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Christopher expressed how difficult it has been to navigate the days since the incident. He explained that authorities spoke with the family as part of the standard process and that they were asked to leave the ship for further questioning. Christopher said he has not yet received updates and is waiting to learn more. The FBI is overseeing the case because the ship was traveling between Cozumel and Miami. Anna was officially pronounced at 11:17 a.m., though further details have not been released.

As word spread, Anna’s mother, Shauntel, shared an emotional tribute on Facebook, describing how unimaginable the moment felt.
