Six-year-old Lucy Morgan tragically lost her life in a freak accident while on vacation in Limerick, Maine. The accident occurred when a racket broke during a downward swing, and a piece of metal from the handle snapped off, piercing her skull and causing severe injuries.
Lucy’s father, Pastor Jesse Morgan, shared the heartbreaking details on his blog. He described how Lucy was unresponsive but still breathing when the metal piece struck her. She was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital and then airlifted to Maine Medical Center in Portland. Despite emergency surgery to relieve pressure on her brain, the prognosis was grim.
Pastor Morgan wrote about Lucy’s faith, sharing that just a month before the accident, Lucy had a profound conversation with her mother about being saved. She then prayed in her room, asking God for forgiveness and expressing her belief in Jesus’ death and resurrection.
In his blog, Jesse conveyed the family’s devastation and the slim chances of Lucy’s recovery. He expressed gratitude that Lucy had not felt pain in her final days and shared their hopes for a miracle, despite acknowledging the reality of her condition.
Sadly, Lucy passed away early in the morning. Jesse posted a heartfelt message saying, “Lucy Lynn Morgan passed away this morning around 4am. She now sees Jesus face to face. Thank you for all your love poured out to us.”
To support the Morgan family during this difficult time, a GoFundMe account was set up by loved ones. The fundraiser has exceeded its initial target of $100,000 and is now nearing $150,000, with over $140,000 raised so far. The funds will help cover medical expenses, meals, lodging for family members, and other needs.
Organizer Jill Anthony updated the page, stating, “June 5, Lucy went to be with the Lord. Please keep praying for the Morgans as they walk through these next days, weeks, months, and years without their sweet Lucy here with them.”
Our deepest condolences go out to the Morgan family. May Lucy rest in peace.
