Influencer Tanner Martin Shares Emotional Farewell Before Death
Just weeks after becoming a father, social media star Tanner Martin shared a heartfelt goodbye video, announcing his death following a long battle with terminal cancer.
Tanner and his wife Shay gained a devoted following after documenting his journey with colon cancer, diagnosed in 2020 at age 25. The couple shared their bucket list adventures, including trips to Disney World, Mexico, Italy, and a vow renewal. A highlight was meeting Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker—Tanner’s favorite character.
In his final Instagram video, Tanner told his 455,000 followers, “Hey, it’s me, Tanner. If you’re watching this, I am dead.” Despite the message, he kept it lighthearted, saying, “Life was awesome. I really enjoyed it while I was here.”
He added, “Hopefully there’s something after this. I’m excited to meet those people… and make fun of all you nerds.”
Over four years, Tanner endured over 50 rounds of chemotherapy and multiple surgeries. He spoke openly about death, encouraging others to plan ahead, especially to ease the burden on loved ones.
On May 15, 2025, Tanner and Shay welcomed their daughter AmyLou. In a TikTok video, Shay revealed their journey through IVF and the setbacks they faced due to Tanner’s health, saying, “Cancer has taken so much from us… Until now.”
Tributes poured in under Tanner’s final video. One follower wrote, “The most special human. Rest in peace, sweet Tanner.” Another added, “Heaven just gained the best angel. Love and prayers to Shay and your baby girl.”
