MINNEAPOLIS SHOOTER’S MOTHER LAWYERS UP — REFUSES TO TALK TO POLICE

Mary Grace Westman, the mother of the Minneapolis school shooter, has retained legal counsel as investigators continue to probe the tragedy at Annunciation Catholic School and Church. She has hired attorney Ryan Garry, a Minneapolis lawyer known for representing high-profile clients, including George Floyd protesters.

According to Garry, Westman is “completely distraught” and is seeking guidance in navigating both the legal and emotional aftermath. He stressed that she bears no responsibility for her child’s actions but faces overwhelming public scrutiny.

Authorities say that despite interviewing dozens of relatives, friends, and associates, investigators have not spoken with Westman. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara noted that her cooperation could provide important context, though she has so far chosen to remain silent.

Garry explained that his client is exercising her legal rights and focusing on processing the shock with professional support. He emphasized that her refusal to speak should not be seen as obstruction, but as a necessary step for her well-being.

Westman has deep ties to the school where the tragedy unfolded. She once worked at Annunciation Church School, the same institution her child, Robin, attended before graduating in 2017. Robin later transitioned and publicly identified as female, drawing further attention to the family’s history.

This connection has intensified speculation in the aftermath of the attack, which left two children dead and 17 others injured. The incident has shaken Minneapolis, renewing debates about school safety, gun laws, and youth mental health.

For Westman, the ordeal represents not only public grief but also private devastation. Her attorney underscored the need to balance investigative cooperation with her emotional recovery.

As the investigation continues, Garry said Westman’s legal team will coordinate carefully with authorities while ensuring her rights and well-being are preserved.
