Why Not Dry Outside

With sunny days returning, drying laundry outdoors can seem refreshing—but for allergy sufferers, it may worsen symptoms. From March to autumn, the air is filled with pollen from trees, grass, and plants, affecting nearly a third of the French population.

Clothes and sheets left outside act like pollen magnets, bringing allergens indoors and triggering sneezing, itchy eyes, and fatigue.

To reduce exposure, experts suggest a few precautions:

  • Dry laundry indoors or use a dryer
  • Wear sunglasses and a hat when outside
  • Shower and change clothes after returning home
  • Avoid freshly mown lawns

While there’s no cure for seasonal allergies, small lifestyle changes—like where you dry your clothes—can make a big difference.

With a few adjustments, you can still enjoy spring without the extra sneezing.
