In the summer of 2014, Susan Hickman made a remarkable discovery during her walk – a broken shell with a young chick inside. Despite her plans to continue, Susan stopped to inspect and found the helpless bird with closed eyes and no feathers.

Unable to locate a nest, Susan decided to take on the task of saving the chick’s life. For the first two weeks, she tirelessly fed him every 20 to 30 minutes from sunrise to sunset, using a small medication dropper. Despite the challenges, Susan was determined and developed a strong bond with the chick, whom she named Klinger.

As time passed, Klinger’s eyes opened, and he grew feathers, transforming into a majestic bird. He became an integral part of Susan’s family, bringing joy and love into her life.

When Klinger became large enough, Susan faced a difficult decision. While she loved animals and wanted him to be free, she knew he was too domesticated to survive in the wild. Ultimately, she chose to keep Klinger by her side, and it seems that he’s perfectly content with the decision.
