Katie Leach looked forward to a family dinner at Texas Roadhouse, known for its family-friendly atmosphere. However, her joy turned to surprise when fellow diners handed her a note, complaining that her 10-month-old son’s cries had “ruined” their meal.
Leach acknowledged that her son had developed a penchant for yelling, a common phase in a baby’s vocal development. Living in welcoming Nampa, Idaho, she was taken aback by the incident and took to Facebook, where her post quickly went viral.
She explained, “He will yell when I tell him no when he’s super excited and happy or just for no reason at all. I’m doing my best to teach him an indoor voice… but he is only 10 (almost 11 months) and LEARNING.”
At the restaurant, baby Drew’s intermittent outbursts seemed innocuous amid the lively atmosphere. However, midway through their meal, two diners in their 50s or 60s left a handwritten note: “Thank you for ruining our dinner with your screaming kid. Sincerely, the table behind you.”
Leach approached the woman and explained her son’s age and learning process. She emphasized, “He’s so young. He barely understands now.”
Leach deemed the diners rude, and the restaurant manager agreed, offering a complimentary meal and a warm invitation for the family to return. Texas Roadhouse’s spokesperson, Travis Doster, defended the restaurant’s energetic ambiance, stating, “We are proud to be loud.”
