Eliana Rodriguez, a mother of two, faced curiosity and judgment due to the size of her pregnancy belly when she gave birth to her second child, Sebastian, at the age of 29. Despite comments about her appearance, both her pregnancy and baby were healthy, and she and her son are doing well.
Nancy Rodriguez, a health and wellness consultant from Las Vegas, Nevada, also shared her experiences with carrying large babies. Her newborn son weighed 8.3 pounds and was 20.5 inches long, while her 3-year-old daughter Sofia was 19.5 inches. Doctors explained that her relatively shorter height of 4’11” made her appear to have a larger belly during pregnancy.
During her pregnancy, Nancy had more amniotic fluid than usual, which can sometimes be linked to conditions like polyhydramnios. However, her doctors ruled out polyhydramnios as the cause. Dr. Kiarra King, an OBGYN in Chicago, suggested that maternal diabetes or fetal anatomical anomalies could lead to excess amniotic fluid.
Typically, a swollen belly during pregnancy is due to factors like macrosomia, maternal obesity, or diastasis recti (abdominal muscle separation). Fortunately, Rodriguez did not experience these issues.
Both women emphasized the importance of showing compassion and respect and not making judgmental comments about pregnant individuals’ bodies, as such remarks can cause pain and distress.
